Our Nowt Poncy® Sauces

Mama Mia, even nonna would be impressed!

We LOVE authentic food (don’t we all) and a visit to the Puglia region of Italy a few years ago made us realise that the best food is simply prepared and cooked using great ingredients. Our Nowt Poncy® Tomato & Basil sauce is a delicious Pomodoro made from Italian tomatoes & olive oil, freshly crushed garlic and fresh basil for a wonderfully herby flavour. A touch of seasoning and bada-bing-bada-boom it’s ready for you to enjoy too. Makes us hungry just thinking about it! Plus, it’s low in fat, saturated fat, sugar and calories too so it’s easy on the waistline AND it’s also GLUTEN FREE so it’s ideal for coeliacs! It’s vegetarian and vegan friendly too!

Only 38 kcal/100g, just add it to your favourite pasta to get those taste buds tingling or use it as a base for a Bolognese, a topping for a pizza or just dive straight in with crackers, tortillas or fresh crusty bread.

Curry in a hurry? Don’t mind if I do…..

Our deliciously moreish Nowt Poncy® Curry Sauce is a simple base to which you can add your favourite vegetables, meats, prawns or fish. it’s nothing like you will find at your local takeaway because it’s a traditional Indian recipe. Just simple ingredients and some fresh chillies to add a little “how you doin?” and wake up those taste buds. Fresh chopped coriander is added at the end of cooking to add another layer of flavour – it’s delicious!

Just like our Nowt Poncy® Tomato & Basil Sauce it’s great for the waistline AND it’s GLUTEN FREE, vegetarian and vegan friendly too!

Believe it or not, we have been told that our curry sauce is “the best I have ever tasted from a jar” and “the best Bradford style curry since I left Bradford – IN A JAR!”. It’s even being eaten cold with tortilla’s as a curry dip/salsa. Not how we envisioned it, but hey, we’ll take it!

L’Amore È Pizza?

I know we do at Nowt Poncy Towers and it’s so easy to make especially with some great pizza bases from our friends at Venice Bakery. Our pizza sauce has 6 ingredients and is the ideal sauce to then add all your favourite toppings. Mrs NP swears by tomato and mozzarella (ok, she sometimes swears a lot but usually it’s because I’ve done something to annoy her) and I just love salami, pepperoni  and, ok I know I am a bit weird here, chicken and pineapple with a few black olives and some chillies sprinkled on top.

Spicy Arrabbiatta – doesn’t make me angry.

So arrabbiata means angry in Italian and it’s because of the chillies that give it heat and the red of the tomatoes. Our arrabbiata has some ooomph by means of fresh red chillies to wake up those taste buds with a little picante tickle, and we’ve always been told if your going to make something spicy – make it spicy (it can always be tempered with some lovely cheese and dare I say it, some lovely Primitivo wine from Apuglia). We use it as a salsa with tortillas as a snack or on crusty fresh Italian bread. In any way, a little Pecorino Romano, Grand Padano or if you are vegan, some lovely Good Carma sprinkles over the top it’s delicious.

It’s what the words Molto Bueno were invented for………..

Big Easy and Simply Delicious.

Our brand new Nowt Poncy® sauce is here. Inspired by the cooking in New Orleans our Creole is AMAZING with chorizo and prawns or chicken. It’s simple to prepare and has only 30 kcals/100g.

Yep, we were gobsmacked too when we got the nutritionals back AND it’s certified Gluten Free at less than 5ppm and legally low in sugar, salt, fat and saturated fat just like our other sauces. What’s a Creole I hear to shout?

Well at one end of the Cajun cooking scale is Gumbo, a soup or broth, and at the other is Jambalaya which is cooked with rice much like a paella. Creole sits in the middle and whilst it has some spice it’s very subtle and is served over rice. Ours is a red Creole because it’s got tomatoes in it which is how it’s served in New Orleans. Green Creole is a more rural, earthy food served in homes out in the bayou’s. We think it’s a winner and hope you do too. You can have it ready in under 20 minutes so it’s ultra easy to prepare.

We are chuffed beyond words to have had our T&B and Curry sauces shortlisted for the 2017 Free From Food Awards in our first year of trading.
